I had a guy go out to 7 mile and Seguchie flats today on a snowmobile he told me that he had 7 to 8 inches of ice and it was good going all the way. I talked to Tony Roach tonight he told me that he went out to the flats yesterday from the East side, they drilled holes every 20 yards for four miles and the ice was 7 to 8 inches. He tried to go back out there today but could not get there because of a two foot wide crack that opened up. Tony said there are areas on the East side that still have only 4 inches of ice. I also found some 4 inch ice on Christmas eve on the West side. If you venture out to the flats be careful and be aware of the fact that on this thin ice cracks can occur at any time and they can be wide. Anyone looking for a private guide this winter I highly recommend Tony Roach he is excellent. Tony’s telephone number is 763-226-6656.
