01/19/2024 Ice and fishing report.

Fishing Report / supportadmin

We checked ice again yesterday the 5 1/2 inch ice we found last week is now 8 1/2 half inches. The ice close to shore is now 10 to 11 inches. One of the guides went out to the mud flats and reported that he found 8 inches of ice with some areas having more […]

Fishing Report / supportadmin

We will check ice again later this week. It should improve some from the 5 to 8 inch thickness we found yesterday. Not a lot of people fishing but fishing has been good.

1/16/2026 Ice is now 17 to 19 inches thick. There is now a bridge over the pressure ridge so trucks and wheel houses can now go out to the mud flats. There is no longer a restriction on truck or wheel house size. There is not enough snow to plow roads so make sure you have a GPS if you plan on going out to the mud flats. We have the following minnows fatheads, suckers and shiners.

  • 6/2/2026 Walleye fishing overall has been good. The night bite from 6 to 10 pm has been very good. Launch catches on the 6 to 10 pm trips have exceeded 100 walleyes. Best evening fishing has been on the rock points 18 to 20 feet. Day bite has been slower for the average fisherman but they are still catching walleyes. Anglers that have live scopes and know how to use them are doing very good during the day. The next two weeks a lot of the walleyes will be in transition moving from the shallow water to the mud flats. Tournament fisherman have already been doing good on the mud flats. Smallmouth bass fishing has been very good from four feet to fourteen feet on rock points and rocks along the shoreline. Northern pike fishing had been slow, expect that to improve as the weeds continue to grow.
  • 5/19/2026 Walleye fishing has been slower than normal because of the cool water temperatures and the persistently windy weather. The best bite has been in the evening from 8:30 to 10 pm. A slip bobber with a leech is what is working the best in the evening on the rocks in 10 to 14 feet. Trolling with Rapala’s in the bays and on the rocks in the evenings is producing some big walleyes after dark. The day bite has been tougher with everyone seemingly catching some fish just not the numbers of fish we are accustomed to this time of the year. Day time people are using jig and shiner minnow and tube jigs in the weed beds and shallow rocks 6 to 12 feet. Others have reported some luck in the 16 to 20 foot depths with lindy rigs tipped with a shiner minnow, leech or night crawler. Small mouth bass bite has been good on the shallow rocks with plastics as well as live bait. Northern pike are being caught in the bays with weeds. Expect better fishing as the water temperatures rise and the wind settles down.
  • 5/11/2026 Opening weekend weather and water temperatures certainly had a effect on fishing. Strong wind and cold temperatures made fishing difficult. Best results were at night either trolling crank baits or fishing with a slip bobber and a leech. The best depth at night was around 12 feet on both the sand and rocks. The night time fishing produced some real big walleyes 27 to 32 inches and some of them were still full of eggs. Day time fishing was best with a jig and shiner minnow or a leech depths were 12 to 20 feet. Water temperatures were as low as 46 to 47 degrees, fishing will improve a lot when the water temperatures warm into the fifties. Both the walleye and small mouth bass bite will get a lot better the next few weeks as the water warms. Legal fishing times are now 6 am to 10 pm.
  • 3/13/2026 Several inches of snow and a lot of wind today with more snow expected on Saturday. Shorelines have a lot of water under the snow and ice is weak along the shore. Anyone trying to fish should use extreme caution. We have closed our access due to concerns for peoples safety.
  • 2-26-2026 Bridge will be out this weekend for Perch and Tullibee fishing. After this weekend travel to the flats will be by ATV and snowmobile only. Access to the bay will be open until melting requiores us to close it.
