5/11/2026 Opening weekend weather and water temperatures certainly had a effect on fishing. Strong wind and cold temperatures made fishing difficult. Best results were at night either trolling crank baits or fishing with a slip bobber and a leech. The best depth at night was around 12 feet on both the sand and rocks. The night time fishing produced some real big walleyes 27 to 32 inches and some of them were still full of eggs. Day time fishing was best with a jig and shiner minnow or a leech depths were 12 to 20 feet. Water temperatures were as low as 46 to 47 degrees, fishing will improve a lot when the water temperatures warm into the fifties. Both the walleye and small mouth bass bite will get a lot better the next few weeks as the water warms. Legal fishing times are now 6 am to 10 pm.

1/25/2026 The cold this past week kept most of the fisherman away. The few that went out did catch fish despite the cold. The bays, rock points and shoreline rock piles continue to produce walleyes, northern pike and some jumbo perch. Percentage wise the bays and rocks are producing more keeper walleyes than the flats. The flats are producing a lot of small walleyes some jumbo perch and tullibee’s. For minnows we still have shiners, pike suckers and fatheads.
