09/02/2024 Walleye fishing during the day continues to be slow. The night bite is better but that also has not been great some keeper walleyes are being caught. Some Jumbo perch are also being caught in the evening. Smallmouth bass fishing has been good during the day some days the mornings are better other days the afternoons have been better but at some point they are biting good everyday. Walleye fishing will improve as we get into fall with cooler water temperatures and decreasing bait fish numbers. Some big Muskies and Northern Pike are also being caught in the bays. The largest Muskies are being caught on the Mud Flats.

12-26-2022 We just checked the ice and the slush has froze. Travel is good for snowmobiles and ATV’S. Ice various from 9 to 14 inches with good black ice being in the 9 to ten inch range not enough for us to plow roads with trucks yet.

01/24/2022 We checked ice again today out to Curly’s flat and Rock Pile flat. The ice on the road we have plowed to Rock Pile Flat had 17 inches off the road we found 11 and 12 inches. Going to Curly’s we found 11 to 14 inches and areas of slush and water. We will allow truck and portable fish house traffic to Rock Pile flat but no wheel houses the ice is not thick enough off the road. If the water spots freeze up to Curly’s we might be able to allow truck traffic by the weekend. Fishing remains slow but some good catches have been reported by snowmobilers who are drilling a lot of holes and moving around on the flats.

Ice report 1/5/2021. We checked ice again yesterday and there was no change from last week. Main lake is 11 to 12 1/2 inches. Ice is not thick enough to plow a road and support truck and wheel house traffic. Talked to Tim Ajax a Mille Lacs guide out of Isle and he told me he found some 9 inch ice on the south end. We hope after this upcoming cold we will have enough ice to plow to the flats late next week. For those who read this and don’t believe and are planning on driving out this weekend. Beware not only are you going to be traveling on ice that is not safe, with the impending cold there are going to be some new cracks and they could be several feet wide.
