Lake Mille Lacs Fishing Report
6/18/2026 Walleye fishing continues to be good with the best bite being between 9pm and 10pm. Size wise the fish being caught are small to large. The number of slot fish being caught is different every night some nights quite a few other nights only a few. The smaller fish are biting every night and it does not matter if you are on the rock points or out on the mud flats. The inshore fishing has slowed down the majority of the fish are now out on the mud flats. The day time walleye bite has been very good for those who have live scopes and know how to use them. Those without live scopes are still catching fish just not as many. Baits that are working the best are night crawlers and leeches. Small mouth bass fishing continues to be good on the rock points, reefs and some of the weed beds. Northern Pike and Musky fishing has been slow. The days with the strong winds have made fishing tougher than on the days with the light winds.

5/19/2026 Walleye fishing has been slower than normal because of the cool water temperatures and the persistently windy weather. The best bite has been in the evening from 8:30 to 10 pm. A slip bobber with a leech is what is working the best in the evening on the rocks in 10 to 14 feet. Trolling with Rapala’s in the bays and on the rocks in the evenings is producing some big walleyes after dark. The day bite has been tougher with everyone seemingly catching some fish just not the numbers of fish we are accustomed to this time of the year. Day time people are using jig and shiner minnow and tube jigs in the weed beds and shallow rocks 6 to 12 feet. Others have reported some luck in the 16 to 20 foot depths with lindy rigs tipped with a shiner minnow, leech or night crawler. Small mouth bass bite has been good on the shallow rocks with plastics as well as live bait. Northern pike are being caught in the bays with weeds. Expect better fishing as the water temperatures rise and the wind settles down.

5/11/2026 Opening weekend weather and water temperatures certainly had a effect on fishing. Strong wind and cold temperatures made fishing difficult. Best results were at night either trolling crank baits or fishing with a slip bobber and a leech. The best depth at night was around 12 feet on both the sand and rocks. The night time fishing produced some real big walleyes 27 to 32 inches and some of them were still full of eggs. Day time fishing was best with a jig and shiner minnow or a leech depths were 12 to 20 feet. Water temperatures were as low as 46 to 47 degrees, fishing will improve a lot when the water temperatures warm into the fifties. Both the walleye and small mouth bass bite will get a lot better the next few weeks as the water warms. Legal fishing times are now 6 am to 10 pm.

3/13/2026 Several inches of snow and a lot of wind today with more snow expected on Saturday. Shorelines have a lot of water under the snow and ice is weak along the shore. Anyone trying to fish should use extreme caution. We have closed our access due to concerns for peoples safety.

2/11/2026 Ice is now 22 to 27 inches bridge is out so you can get to the Mud Flats with trucks and wheel houses. Live bait we have shiners, sucker minnows, fatheads. wax worms and eurolarve. A lot of small walleyes are still very active the larger walleyes have been caught mainly on shiners and sucker minnows. Jigging with the head of a fathead on a jigging spoon has been luring the fish in and then they hit the shiner or sucker minnow. Some Jumbo Perch are being caught in the 28 to 32 foot depths along the edges of the flats. Walleyes are being caught in the bays, rock points and sides and tops of the mud flats. Last day for walleye fishing is February 22.
